How
do you pronounce your last name?
Both my family and extended family (on my fathers side) pronounce our
last name chU / Chü / "Chew"
How
much do your paintings go for, and how do I get my hands on one?
My prices are usually determined by size. If you're interested
in a particular painting, please email me at contact@lukechueh.com
and i'd be happy to discuss my prices in detail.
Do
you do commissions?
I rarely do commissions. It mostly depends on how busy I am.
But when I do a commission I've got some rules buyers will have to consider.
For instance I'll rarely illustrate somebody else's idea. I've found that
most of the ideas people have proposed don't agree with me stylistically.
What I usually do is ask people which paintings of mine they're most interested
in (This helps figure out what kind of painting their looking for.) I'll
show them sketches of what I had in mind, and once they approve of a concept,
I'll go full production until the finished painting is ready to be unveiled.
If you're interested in hiring me for a commissioned painting, please
contact Jensen and Katie at Gallery 1988.

Are
you Korean?
Me Chinese!
Do
you have prints for sale?
I usually do have prints. Please check the print/product section
of my website (in the news section of the index page). If there aren't
any prints listed, then there are no prints available. Keep on checking
back or subscribe to my mailing list.
Can
we turn your paintings into t-shirts?
No, my paintings were never intended to
be reproduced as t-shirts. I truly feel that doing so would kill the integrity
of the piece. However, that's not to say that I wouldn't be interested
in creating designs to be reproduced as t-shirts.
Do
you mind if I use your images as an "Avatar" in my Web-Journal
/ "Blog"
I generally have no problem with people using my images for these
kinds of applications. I just ask that if possible, please give credit
where credit's due. My name coupled with a link to my site is always appreciated.
I also really appreciate it when people take the time to ask. However,
I don't always have time to reply, so go ahead and use what you want after
asking.
What I do have a problem with is if some jack-ass finds a way to make
a buck off my images without my permission. If anybody sees anything like
that going on, I'd appreciate it if you contacted me. I'll try and find
a way to quietly reward informants.
I also don't want to see my images being used in posters that advertise
bands or functions I am neither familiar with or agree with. If you want
to use my images to promote your band or function, I insist that you contact
me. My paintings are very personal, and I'm always happy when other people
can also relate to the work. However, when my work is taken outside of
its original context, then I'd like to make sure they're being used in
a way I agree with.
Do
you do album artwork?
Yes. but I'll only do music I like. I actually take the time
to listen to the album before designing it's cover, (I've found that if
you take the time to listen to the record, it's easier to create artwork
that actually relates to it... which is a good thing.) Pop records of
the Diva, Boy Band, Top 40 variety need not apply.
Do
you ever plan on showing in my city/state/country anytime soon?
Currently, I show mostly in my hometown, Los Angeles / Southern
California. However, I do have working relationships with galleries in
Detroit, Seattle, San Jose, Montreal Canada, Miami, and New York. I'd
really like to show my paintings in whatever city/state/country you live
in, but to be honest, I've got my hands full trying to keep up with all
the shows I've got lined up here in LA. (The scene here is totally happening!)
But if you're aware of a credible gallery or festival that is interested
in my work and truly worth the time, I'd be happy to find a way to get
my work out there.
